Cities in Montenegro: Tivat and Podgorica

Luštica Bay  is located along Montenegro’s dramatic Adriatic coastline, just 10km from  Tivat  and around 80km from the country’s capital, Podgorica . The development’s prime situation will provide residents and visitors with an ideal base from which to explore the wealth of nearby natural beauty and the lifestyle activities this blossoming country has to offer.

Known as Montenegro’s “ commercial and cultural capital”,  Podgorica is a relatively new city with much to offer. Travel just outside the city, however, and you will discover one of the oldest settlements in Montenegro – Medun . Other attractions in and around Podgorica include Monestery Dajbabe  which provides a great opportunity to discover one of Montenegro’s holy edifices or, if you are fond of learning about antique communities and rural history, then Duklja , Montenegro’s 9th century first state, is well worth a visit.

Known for the renaissance summer house Buca and the lively Plavi Horizonti beach , nearby Tivat is located in the centre of the Boka region. Although it is one of the youngest settlements in Montenegro, this city has become a popular destination for visitors.

Home to “ Ostrovo Cvijeca “, which translates to ‘Flower Island’, Tivat provides the ideal point from which to walk across the narrow isthmus which connects the island to the mainland. Visit the most famous attraction on the island – the Monastery of St Archangel Michael – for the chance to see the 14th century carved royal wooden doors and the impressive white marble “ iconostasis decorated with modern icons” .

To enjoy the views of the “ beautiful Tivat Bay visit Gornja Lastva, the rural hillside village which sits  300m above sea level and provides the ideal spot for a picnic whilst enjoying the vista: the perfect respite from a day discovering the city.
