Full of life, Montenegro offers exciting events and festivals, encouraging the community, locals and tourists alike to come together and celebrate the culture. As September creeps closer, we’ve chosen a few events we’re starting to look forward to!
As a pluralistic and diverse country, it is no surprise that we are constantly inspired by culture. This is definitely reflected in our wealth of art museums and exhibitions. In September, the Museum Maritum - or Maritime Museum - in Kotor will play host to an exhibition of paintings based on Italian sailors. This is an exciting opportunity to appreciate the Italian-Montenegrin community while, at the same time, surrounded by the classic Baroque architecture of the museum. A true slice of Montenegrin history.
Since its inception in 2007, the annual Petrovac Jazz Festival is a hotly anticipated event for locals and visitors alike. The festival, which runs from 1st to 10th September, offers a melting pot for jazz lovers, with around 800 musicians gathering from more than 22 countries including the US, Germany and Norway. Particularly popular with students who are fortunate enough to undertake a workshop with world-renowned musicians, the event showcases the finest talent from all over the world.
The Herceg Novi Comic Strip Festival invites artists to come together and exchange ideas. Founded by local artist Nikola Curcin, the event has drawn in a great variety of acclaimed artists from comic brands such as Marvel, DC and the phenomenon Game of Thrones. Last year, the festival welcomed William Simpson, who has previously worked with the likes of Indiana Jones and Transformers.
