A home in the sun is guaranteed, with 240 sunny days every year. Average temperatures range between 5°C in January and a balmy 28°C in July and August.

DIVERSE CLIMATE

Montenegro’s varied climate means within the same day you can be sunbathing in the south and skiing in the north. It has three main climate zones: Alpine in its highland north, moderate continental in its inland areas and Mediterranean along its coastal belt.

Montenegro’s 293km of coastline is as spectacular as it is varied. The emerald blue waters of the Adriatic explore a meandering shoreline of sandy beaches, secluded bays and coves, UNESCO recognized fjordscapes, old-world fishing villages, Medieval fortress towns and a scattering of islands.

RICH HISTORY

Due to a long and colourful history, Montenegro is country of fascinating tradition, myth and archaeological treasures where Illyrian, Roman, Venetian, Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman architecture collide. A historic tapestry that is particularly compelling in its ancient coastal towns of Kotor and Budva.

ALPINE ADVENTURES

Montenegro’s mountainous north is a land of majestic extremes and a playground for nature-lovers. It promises lofty plateaus, deep gorges, river canyons and glacial lakes, with its highest mountain Durmitor, Bobotov Kuk peak, rising over 2000m.

NATIONAL PARKS

With five outstanding national parks, more than 9% of Montenegro’s land belongs to protected natural reservations. Highlights include Europe’s deepest canyon, Europe’s last virgin forest and a wealth of wildlife, thanks to its biodiversity index which is one of the highest in the world.
