Traditional Montenegrin cuisine is the result of a near-exotic melange of Mediterranean and Balkan influences. Among the most popular dishes, delicacies include squid stew, stuffed peppers, homemade bread and cheeses, and cured meats.

For those of you planning a trip to Montenegro this summer, and wanting to sample the country’s most delicious gastronomic exports, we’ve collated a list of the region’s best restaurants, from the bustling cities to the calm coast.

It also has an ambience to match. The restaurant has been in the Castovica family for nearly 200 years, meaning a slice of heritage comes with every sumptuous dish.

Ribarsko Selo

At the end of the Luštica peninsula, on Zanjic Beach, is where you will find the waterside Ribarsko Selo. This is the perfect spot to enjoy a traditional feast and sun downer overlooking the entrance to Boka Bay and Mamula Island. Also worth noting is that this is the optimum spot from which to watch the local fishermen bringing in their daily catch – all of which, of course, finds its way onto the Ribarsko Selo menus.
